No we are not in Miami. This is Recife, Northeast Brazil. The architectural and urbanistic influences are obvious. Palm trees surrounded by skyscrapers and bridges. The globalization dictates this model of development where you build upwards and try to go as high as you can. This brings certainly some problems with it. The skyscraper-tall-buildings development model leads to problems such as bad circulation of air, high concentration of traffic around those buildings and the increasing isolation of the people who seclude themselves in these big prisons of concrete and steel.
